The characteristic feature of this type of film is greater diffusion resistance than in other vapour-insulations. Very low vapour-permeability is the result of spraying aluminium on one of the film layers. It is of a crucial meaning in all applications, where maximal tightness of the building baffle has to be obtained. It concerns all the roofs and stud walls which cannot be ventilated for various reasons. This sometimes happens in cases of repaired roofs and walls whose coating or elevation cannot be ventilated. Because of the sprayed aluminium, this vapour-insulation looks like a mirror reflecting sun rays. It is of a crucial meaning in rooms which are heated by means of devices which emit lots of thermal radiation. Then the heat spreads throughout the room, just like radiation, and can be reflected from mirror surfaces. The application of this vapour-insulation film under sheetrocks results in some energy savings, as its reflective surface, mirrors the radiation which gets under the sheetrock. ML AL vapour-insulation films fulfill the requirements of the European norm EN 13984 and are marked with the CE symbol.
